3. Get the children to read aloud from a book
When you get children to read a book to you, a completely different situation arises than when it is the other way around. It gives children a responsibility that gives them self-esteem. At the same time, it gives us adults an insight into what they like and what they think is nice. When we take responsibility for our time, we give them a feeling that we trust them and take them seriously. We give our most precious possession to them: our time. They understand the preciousness of that.
